Spay & Neuter

Spaying or neutering your furry friend is one of the most responsible decisions you can make as a pet owner, but why?

Benefits of Spaying and Neutering

In addition to the increased life span, there are many other benefits of spaying and neutering that will improve the quality of not only your pet’s life, but your life as well. Some of the most significant benefits include:

  • Save money by avoiding costly health issues in the future
  • Prevent a surplus of litters that may end up in shelters or wandering as strays
  • Reduce behavior issues associated with mating instincts
  • Protect your pets from some serious health problems later in life such as uterine infections and breast cancer and also lessen the risk of developing enlarged prostate gland and testicular cancer.

Our spay and neuter procedures are performed by skilled professionals in our fully equipped operating room using modern technology to make each procedure as quick and easy as possible. Our team closely monitors your pet’s vital signs throughout the procedure, and after their procedure we ensure that they are as comfortable as possible as they recover before heading home!

Soft Tissue Surgeries

In addition to our spay and neutering services, we also offer a variety of general soft tissue surgeries here at Family Animal Hospital.

We understand that medical procedures can be an anxiety-provoking experience for both the pets, and their families. Your pet’s well-being is our top priority, and our team of highly skilled experts work diligently to ensure that your pet is calm, comfortable, and well taken care of from the moment they step into our office, until they head back home for their recovery.

Prior to the procedure, we advise that your pet join us for a pre-anesthetic exam and diagnostic testing. On the day of the surgery, your pet will be in the capable hands of our doctors and nursing staff to ensure that their procedure goes off without a hitch.

We believe that open and honest communication is key, and we pride ourselves in our diligence in educating families, keeping them in the loop along the way, and going over each step to ensure that your pet has a safe and smooth recovery. We encourage you to ask questions and are dedicated to bringing you peace of mind knowing that your pet is in the best care here at Family Animal Hospital.

At Family Animal Hospital we require a physical exam prior to scheduling procedures. Before the procedure is scheduled, our staff will explain the process including:

  • Any surgical testing, labwork, x-rays and any other recommendations prior to the procedure.
  • Pre op instructions so you know exactly what to expect the day of the procedure.
  • Discharge aftercare instructions so you can plan for a smooth recovery.
  • The costs of the procedure and an estimate sent home including any additional recommendations.
